The Zamir Choral Foundation also sponsors the National Jewish Chorale, a unique gathering of Jewish choral singers from throughout the United States and Canada who come together in performances celebrating significant events in the life of the Jewish people. Concerts in New York, Chicago, Washington, Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv have featured performances by Elie Wiesel, Naomi Shemer, Shoshana Damari, and Richie Havens. In 1996 the National Jewish Chorale performed as part of the Jerusalem 3000 celebration, and in the summer of 1998 the Chorale toured Israel to mark the 50th anniversary of the Jewish State. For the concluding concert of the "Israel at 50" celebration in New York City, the National Jewish Chorale was featured in a gala concert at Carnegie Hall, sponsored by the Zamir Choral Foundation in association with the Office of Cultural Affairs, Consulate General of Israel in New York.
